The new hospital is being built in partnership with Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System, the city of Wauchula and the Hardee County Industrial Development Authority.

In a two-year cost analysis, Adventist Health System weighed the cost of building a new hospital to updating the original facility, ultimately deciding to build anew. The new building is expected to open in 2017 at a new location.

The new 50,000-square-foot facility will be similar in size to the hospital it will replace, with a 15-bed emergency department, 25-bed transitional care unit and therapy rooms. Each private inpatient room will include a bathroom, refrigerator, microwave and personal safe. The hospital will also offer concierge services, a beauty salon and activity room with a full kitchen, washer and dryer and a large television, according to the report.
