The nine-story building will be built across the street from the existing 100,000-square-foot Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, which opened in October. A sky bridge will connect the new building to the existing one.
The cancer center, which will cover 330,000 square feet, is expected to open by mid-2018, according to the report.
“It changes things as far as cancer care for our region and also the impact of patients and their families,” said Baptist Health CEO Hugh Greene. “It’s going to be a beautiful iconic building, but more importantly, it’s what’s going to take place in that building.”
