Pinehurst, N.C.-based FirstHealth of the Carolinas broke ground March 25 on a $43.2 million hospital in Troy N.C., according to a LinkedIn post from the system.
FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital will comprise nine inpatient beds, 10 emergency room bays, a procedure room and additional space for inpatient, outpatient and observation services, according to the system’s website.
The 40,000-square-foot facility will replace the existing Montgomery Memorial Hospital, which has provided care since 1950.
Construction of the new hospital is expected to be complete by June 2027.
“Replacing Montgomery Memorial Hospital is not just about bricks and mortar—it’s about investing in the future of rural health care,” Kerry Herbine, president of the western region and administrator of Montgomery Memorial Hospital,” said on the system’s website. “The new hospital will strengthen our ability to provide excellent, accessible care while creating a foundation for growth in primary and specialty services as our community’s needs expand.”
