Essentia Health hospital breaks ground on $12M ED

Essentia Health-Fosston (Minn.) broke ground April 8 on a $12 million emergency department, which is expected to be complete by summer 2027.

The ED will add more than 5,500 square feet to the facility and will feature dedicated rooms for behavioral health patients, a new ambulance bay and a layout designed to provide a more confidential and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.

“This new emergency department will help us better meet the needs of patients and families in Fosston and the surrounding area,” Stefanie Gefroh, MD, president of Essentia Health West Market, said in an April 8 news release shared with Becker’s

Essentia Health-Fosston is a level 4 trauma hospital that offers 24/7 emergency care, walk-in care six days a week, and same-day primary care access. The facility provides more than 20 specialty services tailored to the community.
