Erlanger East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., will undergo a construction project that will add patient beds and specialty services.
Six things to know:
1. The project includes a new three-story, 52,000-square-foot medical building that will add 22 patient beds, according to a May 14 news release shared with Becker’s from Chattanooga-based Erlanger.
2. Erlanger East also plans to add a cardiac catheterization lab, electrophysiology lab and interventional radiology lab as part of the project.
3. The hospital’s emergency department will be fully renovated, and the project also includes expanded dining facilities, preoperative facilities, post-anesthesia care unit recovery space and additional surface parking.
4. Erlanger East currently has 112 patient beds. The new building was designed to support a future vertical expansion that could add another 24 beds in addition to the 22 beds that will be added as part of this project.
5. Erlanger said it plans to hire more than 100 new staff members to support the expansion.
6. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2026 and conclude by fall 2028.
Erlanger is a seven-hospital system affiliated with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine.
