Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health plans to build a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Post Falls, Idaho.

Three things to know:

1. The freestanding hospital will serve patients recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic issues, according to a May 11 health system news release.

2. The hospital will feature private patient rooms, a therapy gym, an activities of daily living suite, an in-house dialysis suite, a dining room, a pharmacy and an outdoor therapy courtyard. Patients will also have access to physical, occupational and speech therapies, along with 24-hour nursing care.

3. The hospital is expected to open in 2028 and will be Encompass Health’s second location in Idaho, joining its existing hospital in Boise.

Encompass Health operates 175 hospitals across 39 states and Puerto Rico.
