The 140-bed healthcare facility has expanded its detox unit, according to an Aug. 15 report from The Intelligencer.
East Ohio Regional Hospital’s chief nursing officer, Julie Ross, told The Intelligencer that the community showed a significant need for the expanded service.
“We get calls from agencies. They are saying they have to travel a patient four and five hours away to get the type of treatment we do here, so I know there’s a need out there,” Ms. Ross said.
Bernie Albertini, the hospital COO, told The Intelligencer that the facility is in a prime location for the expanded service: “If you look at our basic population, we’re sitting in the middle of a high area of drug and alcohol abuse. We’ve had a lot of overdoses in the emergency room. It just makes sense to offer that option to people.”
