The new emergency department will begin accepting patients July 25.
It includes a variety of features, including a mental health observation room — through which staff members can monitor patients and determine if psychiatric treatment is necessary — and a decontamination area where patients who have been contaminated with chemicals can shower.
Medical Director Gail Graham said the ED has a solid track record of low wait times. Patients typically see a physician in 30 minutes and finish their ED visit within two hours, according to the report.
