Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has received a $50 million gift to launch the David M. Einhorn Institute for Early Relational Health.
Four things to know:
1. The donation is from Einhorn Collaborative, which is a foundation dedicated to advancing the science and practice of social connection, according to a July 22 health system news release.
2. The institute will be housed within CHOP’s Research Institute and is focused on advancing pediatric care through the science of human connection and its effect on health. It will develop, test and implement interventions designed to strengthen caregiver-child relationships.
3. CHOP said the initiative will draw on the organization’s research, clinical care, education and policy expertise to advance early relational health as a component of pediatric care.
4. Dani Dumitriu, MD, PhD, will serve as the institute’s inaugural director. On Jan. 1, Dr. Dumitriu will also assume the role of David M. Einhorn Endowed Chair in Early Relational Health.
