Hyannis, Mass.-based Cape Cod Healthcare has received a $20 million gift from Cynthia G. and John F. Fish of Osterville, Mass., the largest charitable donation in the health system’s history.
Four things to know:
1. The gift will support initiatives focused on elder care, patient care and expanding access to healthcare services across the system.
2. In recognition of the donation, the Cape Cod Hospital campus will be renamed the Cynthia G. and John F. Fish Campus at Cape Cod Hospital.
3. Michael Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare, said the donation will help the system expand access to care and strengthen services for older adults. “As Barnstable County has one of the nation’s oldest populations, it will also strengthen our ability to deliver specialized care and services for our older patients,” Mr. Lauf said.
4. Cape Cod Healthcare includes two acute care hospitals, six urgent care centers, a home health and hospice division, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility and an assisted living facility. The system employs more than 5,000 people and works with more than 600 providers.
