Cape Canaveral Hospital evacuates in advance of Hurricane Matthew

Due to impending weather conditions expected from Hurricane Matthew, Health First has evacuated patients from its hospital in Cape Canaveral, Fla., reports Space Coast Daily.

The hospital evacuated high-need or critical care patients Oct. 4. Officials expect to complete the evacuation process Oct. 5. Cape CanaveralHospital patients have been relocated to other Health First hospitals, a company spokesperson said in a statement.

“As we continue to monitor Hurricane Matthew, Health First is taking all of the necessary safety precautions. With Cape CanaveralHospital being located on a barrier island, we felt the evacuation was needed to ensure the safety of our patients,” the hospital operator’s statement reads.
