California hospital wraps construction on $78M emergency department

Burbank, Calif.-based Providence St. Joseph Medical Center has completed construction on its new $78 million emergency department, My Burbank reported Sept. 1.

The Jaromir Strizka Emergency Room is three times the size of the hospital’s former department, at 34,500 square feet. It holds 44 beds and was funded through donations and community fundraisers.

The hospital held a dedication ceremony Aug. 30. The emergency room is expected to officially open next week.
