The threat was phoned in to hospital staff about 9 a.m. and reported to 911 shortly after. Hospital staff said the caller threatened the hospital and an unspecified urgent care location, a spokesperson for the Newton Fire Department said.
Newton police and firefighters responded to the hospital and several nearby urgent care centers, including Partners Urgent Care in Newton and the Newton-Wellesley Hospital urgent care center in Waltham, the spokesperson said.
Police and firefighters conducted sweeps of the hospital to look for strange objects and have K-9s sniff around. The sweeps lasted about 90 minutes.
The hospital remained open and functional throughout the sweeps, and officials did not find anything suspicious at the hospital or urgent care centers, the fire department spokesperson said.
Investigators now seek to identify the caller and a motive.
