Baylor Scott & White to open heart, vascular hospital

Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Heart has completed the construction of its heart and vascular hospital in Waxahachie, Texas.

The expansion offers several cardiovascular interventional services, peripheral vascular treatments and noninvasive services, including echocardiography, echocardiograms and other testing. Catheterization rooms and an outpatient nursing unit are also included in the expansion.

"By adding subspecialty physicians to the medical staff at our Ellis County hospital … area residents will have expert heart care close to home," Will Turner, president of Baylor Scott & White-Waxahachie, said in a July 20 news release. "Our care team will now be able to extend advanced cardiovascular care to our patients with the same level of quality patients receive at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular-Dallas."

Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital-Dallas opened in 2002 as the first North Texas hospital dedicated solely to the care and treatment of heart and vascular patients, according to the health system.

Baylor Scott & White Health has 51 hospitals and more than 1,200 access points and is the largest nonprofit health system in Texas.
