The children’s hospital currently sits adjacent to St. Joseph’s Hospital and shares some facilities. The new “high-quality, state-of-the-art” space would allow the hospital to further evolve pediatric specialty care and research, according to an Oct. 4 news release.

The St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Foundation plans to launch a philanthropic campaign to support the new hospital, which is expected to open by 2030.

This project joins a growing list of recent capital investments from BayCare. The system opened its 16th hospital, BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel (Fla.) in March, and has plans to build a 17th in Manatee County, Fla. It will also open a replacement facility for South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City in early 2024.
