Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System will kick off the first phase of construction May 12 on its Pagidipati Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s, according to a May 4 statement shared with Becker’s.
The new facility, which is scheduled to open in 2030, represents a $650 million hospital investment to succeed BayCare’s existing St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa. The first phase of construction includes the removal of the existing St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital parking garage.
BayCare shared plans to build Pagidipati Children’s in early January. The facility is named in honor of the Pagidipati family of Tampa, who had donated $50 million to the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“We are excited to share that construction for the future Pagidipati Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s is beginning this month,” the statement said. “This is the first phase of building the new, state-of-the-art facility scheduled to open in 2030 — designed entirely around the needs of children and families.”
