Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital, part of Coral Gables, Fla.-based Baptist Health South Florida, plans to open its Gloria Drummond Patient Tower to patients within the next few weeks, CEO Lincoln Mendez said in an Oct. 26 statement shared with Becker’s.

The eight-story, 427,000-square-foot tower represents an investment of more than $700 million and is the centerpiece of the hospital’s $1 billion campus transformation, according to the statement. It includes 216 private patient rooms and 20 operating rooms, two of them hybrid ORs. Once the tower opens, the hospital will have 561 licensed beds.

The tower will house the hospital’s neuroscience and heart and vascular institutes, along with expanded surgical, radiology and inpatient services.

The hospital’s foundation raised more than $450 million through a fundraising campaign to support the tower and other campus improvements, Mr. Mendez said. The hospital is also hiring staff to support the expanded services.
