Coral Gables, Fla.-based Baptist Health broke ground Oct. 7 on the new home for its Baptist Health Kenneth C. Griffin Neuroscience Institute.

Kenneth Griffin, founder and CEO of Citadel and founder of Griffin Catalyst, donated an additional $25 million, which brought his philanthropic support for neuroscience at Baptist Health to $75 million, according to a news release from the system.

The 197,000-square-foot facility will be located on the Baptist Health Baptist Hospital main campus in Miami and is expected to open in early 2029. The institute, formerly Miami Neuroscience Institute, was renamed in honor of Mr. Griffin’s gifts and is part of Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care.

The Baptist Health Kenneth C. Griffin Neuroscience Institute will add 16 subspecialty providers and grow its number of examination rooms. Patients will also have access to services like outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy, rehabilitation and neuroinfusion services.

The institute will also expand clinical trial opportunities and support advanced technologies to diagnose and treat complex neurological conditions.

Mr. Griffin’s additional $25 million donation will create the Kenneth C. Griffin Neuroscience Institute Transformational Impact Fund that supports priorities across neuroscience including education, innovation, prevention and research. Mr. Griffin donated the initial $50 million in 2024.
