Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus Health will open Aspirus Chippewa Falls Hospital and Clinic on Sept. 22, expanding access to hospital and outpatient services in a region affected by recent hospital closures.
The 35,000-square-foot facility in Chippewa Falls, Wis., will provide emergency care, inpatient services, primary care, imaging, laboratory services and an on-site pharmacy.
The hospital aims to help address care access challenges that emerged after Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System closed HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls and Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis., in March 2024. Aspirus announced plans for the new hospital in November 2024.
“The opening is about more than a new building — it is about ensuring patients in Chippewa Falls and surrounding communities have dependable access to excellent care, supported by knowledgeable clinicians and the resources of a strong regional health system,” Jason Troxell, Northwest Wisconsin division president for Aspirus Health, said in a July 9 news release.
The hospital sits on a 22-acre campus and is designed to integrate hospital, clinic and diagnostic services in one location. Aspirus said it has been preparing care teams, technology and clinical workflows ahead of the opening to support coordinated patient care.
“As we prepare to open our doors, we are energized by the strong interest we’ve seen from talented healthcare professionals who want to be part of this effort,” Mr. Troxell said. “That momentum reflects both the strength of the Aspirus mission and the opportunity to build a team focused on clinical excellence, compassion and service to this community.”
The new facility will become Aspirus Health’s 18th hospital, according to its website. The system also operates more than 130 outpatient locations across Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.
