Nashville, Tenn.-based Ascension Saint Thomas — part of St. Louis-based Ascension — and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health, have received state approval to build an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Here are five things to know, according to an April 24 joint news release:
1. The 40-bed facility will be adjacent to the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford hospital campus.
2. Services at the hospital will include nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and speech pathology.
3. The facility aims to help meet demand for advanced, local rehabilitation services amid rapid growth in Rutherford County.
4. It will be operated through a joint venture between Ascension Saint Thomas and Lifepoint Rehabilitation. The two organizations also operate Ascension Saint Thomas Rehabilitation Hospital in Nashville.
5. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the hospital projected to open in 2027.
