Akron (Ohio) Children’s has successfully bid on a former Notre Dame College campus property in South Euclid, Ohio.

Three things to know:

1. The pediatric health system was the successful bidder for the nearly 50-acre property, subject to remaining court and closing processes, and the City of South Euclid was identified as the backup bidder, according to a May 7 news release from the city.

2. Akron Children’s plans to use the location for pediatric specialty services, a health system spokesperson said in a May 8 statement shared with Becker’s.

“We believe the campus is a great location for future pediatric specialty services in a vibrant, thriving community,” the spokesperson said. “Our goal is to improve access to high quality care in Greater Cleveland with a 100% focus on kids.”

3. The city noted that the system’s presence has grown in the eastern suburbs and said it appreciates that it is part of its plans to increase access to care for children in the community.

“We look forward to learning more about their vision for the property and working constructively with them and the community as the future of the site moves forward,” the release said.

Akron Children’s operates two hospital campuses, six regional health centers and more than 50 primary and specialty care locations.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
