Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth, which operates more than 50 hospital campuses and hundreds of care sites across nine states, has completed three expansion projects across two Central Florida hospitals.
Five things to know:
1. The Daytona Beach project raised inpatient capacity at AdventHealth Daytona Beach from 362 to 466 beds, according to an Aug. 27 news release. The 104 new intensive and progressive care beds include a dedicated neurological ICU and an expanded cardiovascular ICU.
2. Four new surgical suites bring the Daytona Beach hospital’s total to 22, and additional CT and MRI equipment expands imaging capacity, the release said. The project also enlarges pharmacy, laboratory and sterile processing areas, adds 287 parking spaces and brings the hospital’s footprint to nearly 1 million square feet.
3. At AdventHealth Winter Garden, The Baby Place opened to patients Aug. 24 with nine labor, delivery and recovery rooms, 10 postpartum beds and two dedicated cesarean operating rooms, according to an Aug. 21 news release. Space is planned for a future level 2 neonatal ICU.
4. The Winter Garden expansion also added 40 progressive care beds and operating room capacity. The expansion aims to meet the community’s growing need for labor and delivery services, as more than 6,000 infants are born annually to families in west Orange and south Lake counties, and most of those deliveries took place outside the area, the release said, citing Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration.
5. The hospital opened a home for the AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Winter Garden to patients July 27, offering radiation and medical oncology, immunotherapy and genetics-informed treatment planning. The facility adds about 50 jobs, according to a July 20 news release.
