Here are six recent major gifts to hospitals and health systems:

  1. The philanthropic arm of Camden, N.J.-based Cooper University Health Care received a $5 million donation, the largest in its history, from the Bernard and Shirley Brown Charitable Foundation and the Brown Foundation.
  2. Milwaukee-based Children’s Wisconsin received a $3 million donation from retail giant Kohl’s for the opening of new behavioral health clinics.
  3. Gas station company Wawa donated $6.15 million to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
  4. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia also received a $10 million donation from the Gilbert Family Foundation for neurofibromatosis research.
  5. Los Angeles-based Cedars Sinai received a $140 million gift, the largest in its history, from Susanne and Ervin Bard to support clinical and research innovation.
  6. Cedars-Sinai received another gift of $30 million from the foundation of writer and producer Chuck Lorre to create a new school for aspiring healthcare workers in in-demand roles such as pharmacy technician and respiratory therapist.
