General Leonard Wood Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., has finalized construction of its replacement facility, with inpatient and emergency room services set to begin April 7.
Outpatient and ancillary services will follow, with all services fully operational at the new hospital by April 13, according to a March 31 hospital news release.
The replacement hospital was approximately $381 million, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s.
It replaces the second oldest military hospital in the United States, built in 1965. The new hospital is organized across three floors, compared to the original six-floor hospital, to improve patient navigation and access to care.
General Leonard Wood Community Hospital serves more than 34,000 people and employs more than 600 staff members.
