The $231 million HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital will open to its first patients on May 5.
Four things to know:
1. The hospital, which hosted its grand opening April 25, will be an extension of HCA Florida North Hospital, according to HCA Florida Healthcare’s website.
2. It will have 60 private medical-surgical recovery rooms and an inpatient rehabilitation unit with 30 private rooms. The hospital will also offer imaging services including MRI, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, spine surgery and emergency care. It will create more than 200 healthcare jobs.
3. The hospital is designed to expand access to high-quality care closer to home for Gainesville and nearby communities, according to an April 27 Facebook post from the hospital.
4. Construction began in May 2024. The hospital will join the freestanding HCA Florida Gainesville Emergency facility, which opened in February 2024.
