Emergency Department at Saint Anne's in Massachusetts Doubles Patient Capacity

Saint Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Mass., will soon open its new emergency department that can treat twice the amount of patients as the previous department, according to a Herald News report.

To speed treatment delivery, the hospital added a new Express Care section in the ED to treat patients with only minor conditions. The ED also has a dual trauma and cardiac room near the ambulance entrance for quick emergency care and a 24-hour stroke service to ensure fast treatment. In addition, the 13,000-square-foot department is connected via a private corridor to X-ray, CT and other diagnostic testing areas.

The new ED is part of a $19.6 million ED/surgical center project by Boston-based parent company Steward Health Care, according to the report.
