Community Health Network begins construction on new cancer center

Indianapolis-based Community Health Network has broken ground on a $60 million cancer center, which will provide expanded oncology services on the Community Hospital North campus.

According to Bryan Mills, CHN president and CEO, a spike in the demand for medical, radiation and surgical oncology care is the driving force behind the new facility.

"Our cancer volumes have significantly increased across the network over the past several years, outpacing our growth projections," said Mr. Mills. "The need for this new facility couldn't be greater. We have outgrown the space in our current cancer center on the Community North campus, and this new building will not only provide the kind of exceptional cancer care our patients already expect and receive, but also a host of new services that take cancer care well into the future."

Plans call for the new center to be three stories tall and roughly 104,000 square feet. The building will feature amenities and benefits such as private guest suites with family areas, natural lighting, a garden, courtyard and entry built to lessen anxiety, work space areas, a wellness facility, a labyrinth for walking and meditation, and short-wait treatment times.

Construction on the new Community Cancer Center North is slated for completion in early 2017.
