Uber will pay $10 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed in 2017 that claims the company fostered a culture of harassment and pay discrimination against women and people of color, according to Fortune.
The settlement will pay roughly $11,000 to the 500 plaintiffs included in the lawsuit and an additional $34,000 to 56 of the plaintiffs who complained of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. The additional $3 million will go toward plaintiff legal fees.
"We agree with the plaintiff’s motion which states that 'the class has responded extremely favorably to the settlement' with amounts that are 'fair, reasonable, and adequate,'" Uber said in a prepared statement.
Uber also announced Nelson Chai would become the company's first CFO since 2015. Mr. Chai previously served as the CEO of the Warranty Group, president of the CIT Group and CFO of Merrill Lynch.
