Uber Freight launches incentive program to attract drivers

Uber Freight needs more drivers to gain enough scale to compete in a market crowded with freight brokers, but the company is facing a shortage of drivers, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Here are four things to know.

1. To attract more drivers, Uber Freight launched an incentive program, which offers drivers discounts on tires, fuel, maintenance, and the purchase of new and used vehicles, according to the report.

2. Drivers must book a load through the Uber Freight app at least once a month to be eligible for the discounts.

3. Eric Berdinis, product manager for the Uber Freight app, said Uber Freight can pay drivers "within a few days," which is attractive to drivers.

4. Uber Freight launched in Texas about a year ago, and it has expanded to all 48 of the lower U.S. states, according to the report.
