In response to U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, the European Union has threatened to tax up to $1.6 billion of U.S goods. Russia has threatened $537.6 million in tariffs; Turkey has threatened $266.6 million; Japan has threatened $264.3 million; and India has threatened $165.6 million.
These countries have filed complaints about the U.S. tariffs with the World Trade Organization.
“As a matter of principle, we will talk about everything with a friendly country that respects WTO rules,” said French President Emmanuel Macron, according to Fortune. “But, by the same principle, we won’t talk about anything while there’s a gun pointed at our head.”
