Though President Donald Trump has paused his trade war rhetoric against China, other nations plan to levy retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods, reports Fortune.
In response to U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, the European Union has threatened to tax up to $1.6 billion of U.S goods. Russia has threatened $537.6 million in tariffs; Turkey has threatened $266.6 million; Japan has threatened $264.3 million; and India has threatened $165.6 million.
These countries have filed complaints about the U.S. tariffs with the World Trade Organization.
"As a matter of principle, we will talk about everything with a friendly country that respects WTO rules," said French President Emmanuel Macron, according to Fortune. "But, by the same principle, we won’t talk about anything while there’s a gun pointed at our head."
