Reservations for Southwest Airlines flights have declined after a recent mid-air malfunction led to the death of a passenger, according to CNBC.
A blade from one of Southwest's Boeing 737-700 engines broke off over Philadelphia on a flight from New York to Dallas April 17, leading to the death of a passenger. It was the company's first-ever passenger accident fatality, and the first aboard a U.S. airline since 2009.
Shares of Southwest were down more than 3 percent since the incident.
"Approximately one to two points of this estimated decrease is attributable to recent softness in bookings following the Flight 1380 accident," Southwest said in a statement, according to CNBC.
