Amazon ramps up staffing in these areas as HQ2 decision nears

Roughly one year after announcing its intent to build a second headquarters, Amazon has ramped up staffing in a number of cities, causing some analysts to speculate on the front-runners for the tech giant's next HQ, GeekWire reports.

A GeekWire analysis of Amazon job posts, incorporating data from a third-party firm, found that of the 20 HQ2 finalist cities, offices in the Washington, D.C., area had the most open positions listed from May through July, followed by Boston, New York City and Dallas.

Amazon has largely remained quiet on the selection process, but revealed the winning city will be announced by the end of the year. GeekWire reports the company typically makes big announcements before the holiday shopping season begins in November, meaning the HQ2 announcement may occur in a matter of weeks.
