Amazon considering purchase of vacant Toys R Us stores to expand physical footprint

Amazon is reportedly interested in buying some soon-to-be vacant Toys R Us locations in an effort to quickly grow its brick-and-mortar presence, according to Bloomberg.

Amazon would not maintain the Toys R Us brand, but instead simply take over the physical locations, giving the company a network of stores that would put its inventory closer to consumers.

Retail locations would give Amazon a chance to better demonstrate its voice-activated Alexa technology, which Amazon believes will soon overtake computer mice and touch screens as the primary technology interface.
