Airbus sales beat Boeing's for 5th consecutive year

European aerospace company Airbus sold 1,109 aircraft in 2017, upsetting Boeing for the fifth consecutive year by nearly 200 orders, CNN Money reports.

While Boeing led Airbus in sales for the majority of last year, a last-minute sale of 430 A320neo jetliners to Indigo Partners pushed Airbus past its American rival. The sale to Indigo Partners was the largest in Airbus' history.

Despite coming in second on orders, Boeing beat Airbus in delivered airplanes. Boeing delivered 763 aircraft in 2017, compared to Airbus' 718.
