Locale Anesthesia Conversion Factors Released From CMS

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued 2013 locale-specific anesthesia conversion factors, according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

The rates are based on the unadjusted factor of $15.93 and are still subject to change since they have been published prior to Congressional action on the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate.

The most expensive locale is Alaska with $21.68, followed by Miami, Fla., with $18.50. Puerto Rico is the least expensive locale with $12.99, followed by Nebraska with $14.36.
