Dr. Richard Dutton Comments on Anesthesia Reactions Study

The executive director of Anesthesia Quality Institute, Richard P. Dutton, MD, analyzes findings from a French study about allergic reactions to anesthesia in a recent Reuters report, according to a report from the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Retuers article.

In the column, Dr. Dutton said he does not believe there is evidence of an increase in allergic reactions to anesthesia, and that they are rare and very treatable.

 

He also said the incident rates may be higher in France as the French study revealed patient reactions that do not correlate with the experience of patients in the United States.
