University Hospitals, Aetna form ACO in Cleveland

Aetna and Cleveland-based UniversityHospitals have launched an accountable care organization, which covers 22,000 Aetna members who receive care from UH physicians, according to a Cleveland Plain Dealer report.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will work to provide more coordinated care to patients. To help achieve its goal, the ACO will use technology to identify gaps in care.

Aetna will provide funding for UH to expand its staff to include care coordinators who will help assist with patient follow up, according to the report.
