Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health Partners — an accountable care organization created through collaboration between UnityPoint Health in Des Moines and approximately 2,500 independent and employed physicians — and UnitedHealthcare are partnering with an aim of improving the quality of care for more than 36,000 UnitedHealthcare members.

Under the agreement, residents who are enrolled in UnitedHealthcare's employer-sponsored health plans in six cities in Iowa, including Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, will be able to receive coordinated care through the partnership.

"The partnership with UnitedHealthcare will allow us to continue to move the dial in the areas of care coordination, transparency, improved quality, patient experience and overall value," said Kevin Vermeer, executive vice president and Chief Strategy Officer of UnityPoint Health and CEO of UnityPoint Health Partners, in a news release.
