UnitedHealthcare, Advocate expand coordinated care initiative

UnitedHealthcare and Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care plan to expand their accountable care relationship beginning July 1 from 5,500 Medicare Advantage beneficiaries to more than 80,000 UnitedHealthcare members with employer-sponsored plans, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Advocate is expanding the UnitedHealthcare ACO, which launched last year, so it can be as successful as its ACO with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois, which was launched four years ago, according to Mike Englehart, president of Advocate Physician Partners.

UnitedHealthcare of Illinois President and CEO Colleen Van Ham told Crain's that the organization is prioritizing the triple aim nationwide.
