Kindred Healthcare Partners With Silver State ACO

Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare has announced it will become a strategic partner and owner in Las Vegas-based Silver State Accountable Care Organization.

The Silver State ACO was formed in 2013 and now has approximately 150 participating primary care physicians providing their services to more than 10,000 patients. Kindred Healthcare has three transitional care hospitals located in Las Vegas, and is scheduled to open a fourth in 2015.

Under the new agreement, Kindred Healthcare's transitional care settings will help provide coordinated care to Silver State's patients. The two organizations will also work together to help increase the quality of care and patient experience through a population health model, according to the news release.

"This ACO experience will create value for patients and partner providers as the nation's healthcare system continues to evolve and move from fee-for-service to pay-for-value," said Paul J. Diaz, CEO of Kindred Healthcare, in the news release.
