Humana, MultiCare Health System launch ACO

Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System will team up with Louisville, Ky.-based Humana to form a new accountable care organization in the Seattle-Tacoma area, according to Puget Sound Business Journal.

The ACO will improve the coordination of care and emphasize preventive care for Medicare Advantage patients, while aiming to lower costs.

MultiCare is a nonprofit healthcare organization with five hospitals, several outpatient specialty centers, primary and urgent care clinics and community outreach programs.

Humana partnered with Cambridge, Mass.-based Iora in September to create an ACO in the Seattle area, according to the report.
