The Tennessee bundled payment program will be for Humana Medicare Advantage members who receive care at Appalachian Orthopaedic Associates in the Tri-Cities, OrthoTennessee and Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics in Knoxville, and Premier Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Nashville. It will function similarly to a model developed for total joint replacement by the State Innovation Model Grant through CMS.
In Ohio, Humana has already rolled out a bundled payment program with five orthopedic specialty groups. It will be adding Adena Medical Clinic in Columbus and University of Cincinnati Physicians in Cincinnati to this group.
“Value-based care is a powerful new approach to more involved medical procedures like total joint replacement,” Humana Vice President of Payment Innovation Chip Howard said in a press release. “It’s the key to building a health system that focuses on improving quality, lowering cost and creating a better experience for our members. We look forward to continue expanding this model.”
