Health Net, University of California expand ACO to employees

Los Angeles-based Health Net of California is bringing accountable care to employees at University of California campuses in Davis, Irvine and San Diego this year. It already operates accountable care arrangements for employees at UC's Los Angeles and San Francisco campuses.

The new accountable care agreement will serve almost half of UC employees in the state who have Health Net Blue & Gold HMO plans, or about 100,000 enrollees.

"Together, we are committed to a long-term collaboration that continues managing and expanding a portfolio of clinical care initiatives to help enhance the healthcare experience of Health Net members and help improve affordability," Steve Sell, president of Health Net's Western Region Health Plan, said in a statement.

The Health Net Blue & Gold provider network was specifically designed in collaboration with UC, and includes select physician groups and hospitals in 30 different California counties.
