Cigna Achieves Goal of 100 Collaborative Care Arrangements

Cigna has achieved its goal of creating 100 collaborative care arrangements reaching 1 million customers with the recent addition of 11 arrangements in seven states.

Customers of Cigna's collaborative care arrangements are said to benefit from improved care coordination and greater emphasis on preventative care due to rewards given to physicians that improve patient health and lowering medical costs.

A majority — 73 percent — of the arrangements that have been operational for two or more years met targets for improving quality and controlling total medical cost.

The collaborative care arrangements span 27 states and include more than 19,000 primary care physicians and more than 20,000 specialists.
