The ACO arrangement aims to improve quality and patient experience while reducing overall costs. This is Aetna’s third ACO contract in Virginia, and now most of the payer’s 500,000 patients in the state have access to care through an ACO, according to the news release.
The agreement also provides Aetna Whole Health, a local option for health insurance purchasers, with a new model of care delivery designed to offer the following, according to the news release:
• More coordinated care for patients
• Lower co-pays for seeing in-network ACO physicians
• Better outcomes
