6 Value-Based Payment Models Most Used by Healthcare Providers

A new report from Availity, a revenue cycle management and business solutions provider, has identified the value-based payment models used most often by healthcare providers.

 The report made the following findings concerning practice-based healthcare providers:

  • Fifty-three percent participate in a Medicare quality incentive program.

  • Forty-nine percent participate in a pay-for-performance program.

  • Thirty-eight percent are part of an accountable care organization. 

  • Thirty-one percent participate in a bundled payment plan.

  • Thirty-one percent provide care under a patient-centered medical home model.

  • Twenty-two percent receive payment for care coordination.

The report also made the following findings concerning facility-based healthcare providers:

  • Fifty-nine percent participate in a Medicare quality incentive program.

  • Fifty-four percent participate in a pay-for-performance program.

  • Thirty-nine percent participate in a bundled payment plan.

  • Thirty-four percent are part of an ACO.

  • Twenty-eight percent provide care under a patient-centered medical home model.

  • Sixteen percent receive payment for coordination of care.

The results were based on survey responses from 540 healthcare providers.
