Here are four things to know.
1. Women’s Choice Award assessed the following criteria when granting the America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics distinction: national accreditations, HCAHPs survey results, CMS’ patient safety ranking based on infection and complication rates, presence of an onsite level III or level IV neonatal intensive care unit, low rates of early elective deliveries and a Baby Friendly designation.
2. American women are having children later in life, which is often associated with complications like multiple births or birth defects, according to an emailed release.
3. The list gives women confidence that the hospital they choose to give birth at will ensure a high quality of care and patient safety — especially for those expecting pregnancy complications, according to Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award.
3. Of the facilities recognized for their Obstetrics programs, 34 have partnered with Women’s Choice Award in its mission to raise the standard of healthcare for women and their families.
