With support from the grant, NJII will develop and manage a master person index that will house patient records from all healthcare facilities and allow for the sharing of that data.

The data platform will first roll out in the Newark metro region and then be expanded over the next few years throughout the state.

“The need for the safe, secure and effective exchange of healthcare information among physicians, hospitals, home health providers and insurers is vital to the wellbeing of the people of New Jersey. We are eager to advance health information technology through this grant,” said Tomas Gregorio, NJII’s senior executive director of healthcare delivery systems.
