Dr. Midei left the hospital last year, and has since had numerous legal claims filed against him. Additionally, he faces professional charges that could result in having his medical license revoked, according to the report.
Eighteen months ago, the hospital began reporting that Dr. Midei performed unnecessary stents on patients and contacted affected patients. In the suit, Dr. Midei argues the claims against him are false and that the hospital’s allegations were a result of “corporate greed, backstabbing and revenge,” according to the report.
A representative for the hospital said it plans to “rigorously defend” itself, according to the report.
