For this report, 5,012 physicians were surveyed during April 2013.
Nearly 30 million uninsured Americans stand to gain coverage under the PPACA, however, 48 percent of the physicians surveyed report that operational pressures prevent them from taking on patients from the newly insured population.
The survey also found that physicians in California are the most unlikely to take on new patients, with 55 percent of them saying that they do not have the resources to do so. In Massachusetts, however, physicians appeared to be more willing with 56 percent of physicians reporting that they could take on new patients.
